Admitted to practice in Mexico (2004) and Spain (2012), Hector has built up a solid dispute resolution practice focusing mainly on arbitration (commercial and investment), administrative litigation, and protection of foreign investments. He regularly represents major international companies in disputes across the following industries: electricity, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, infrastructure, real estate, insurance and reinsurance, among others. Also, he is active as arbitrator for key law disputes.
Héctor has vast experience in arbitration nationally and internationally , which has deserved his recognition in Who’s Who Legal /Global Arbitration Review on its Global Guide for International Arbitration consistently since 2018 and is described a “excellent” lawyer who stands out for his in-depth knowledge of international arbitration proceedings”. Moreover, since 2021 he has been included in the national leader list among the best arbitration practitioners in Mexico. Besides advising clients regularly on important I arbitrations, he plays a growing role as an arbitrator.

During his career Hector acquired international experience in Germany, where he worked at two global law firms (Linklaters, LLP and White & Case LLP, both in Frankfurt and Main). As part of his activities within the legal community, he is active member of the Mexican Bar Association, the Madrid Bar Association, and the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association, among others. At the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) he has played several roles, being appointed President of the Young Lawyers Committee in Arbitration and Latin American Regional Representative of the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (2019- 2021) and representative of Mexico before the ICC (2019-2022). Since 2015 Héctor lectures Arbitration and Administrative Proceedings at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. He is also the author of several academic articles and regular speaker at different arbitration forums. In 2016, he published the book “Investment Arbitration with a Special Focus on ICSID and Latin America” ISBN 978-3-8300-8302-3.
Héctor obtained his law degree (JD) from Universidad Panamericana School of Law in 2004. He obtained a Specialty degree in Tax Law (2005) and in International Business and International Commerce (2006) both from Universidad Panamericana. He holds a Master of Law and Business from Bucerius Law School and WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (2009), Germany. Also, he obtained a diploma in Spanish Law from Universidad de Alcala, Spain (2010). In 2014, he achieved a PhD degree from the Law School of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University (magna cum laude). Also, he is certified public Mediator in Mexico City.
