HUMBERTO BOTTI O. IS A PARTNER IN THE MEXICO CITY OFFICE. HIS PRACTICE FOCUSES ON MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS, PRIVATE EQUITY AND CAPITAL MARKETS.
Among others, Mr. Botti represents investment banks, private equity funds and corporations in domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures. He also represents underwriters, investors and issuers in equity, convertible securities, mezzanine and other debt investment and financing transactions. Mr. Botti has represented AT&T in the sale of its equity stake in América Móvil and the acquisition of Nextel Mexico and Grupo Axo in its joint venture with PHV as well as in the acquisitions in its acquisitions of “The Athelete’s Foot”, “Privalia México” and “C&A México”. In private equity transactions, he has represented CDPQ, Apollo, Glisco Partners, Southern Cross, Eton Park, Turnspire Capital, KPS Capital Partners and Advent International.
Mr. Botti recently represented Canadian Pacific in its merger with Kansas City Southern, CDPQ in its investment in Grupo Diagnostico Aries, Ualá in the acquisition of ABC Capital bank, Apollo in the Aeromexico restructuring, Santander Spain in its US$1.5 billion tender offer to acquire shares in its Mexican affiliate, Banco Santander Mexico. He also recently advised Grupo Diagnostico Aries in its incursion into the United States through its acquisition of Access Medical Laboratories Grupo ACS in the sale of 100% of the share’s representative of the capital stock of a natural gas platform located in Mexico that will provide services to PEMEX; AN Global in its acquisition of the IT company 4th Source Inc.; Generac in its acquisition of Selmec Equipos Industriales, S.A. de C.V.; Despegar.com in its acquisition of Best Day and Merck Mexico in its pre-sale business reorganization and post-sale integration to Procter & Gamble.
In 2020 he was the only professional in Mexico and Latin America recognized by GlobalM&Anetwork as Americas Rising Star Dealmaker for his leadership in the M&A and private equity markets.
Prior to re-joining the firm, Mr. Botti worked as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs´ Mexico City office where he participated in the execution of several M&A and capital market transactions focused on Mexico and Latin America.
He has been professor of Corporate and Financial Law at Universidad Iberoamericana. Mr. Botti worked as Foreign Associate in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate; Meagher & Flom LLP in 2007 and 2008.
Mr. Botti was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He received his law degree (JD) from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City in 2005 and obtained his M.B.A. degree from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in 2012 with emphasis in finance and accounting and has been a FINRA Series 79 accredited financial advisor. He is fluent in Spanish and English.
