Javier Lavalle is an Associate at Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C., where he specializes in Financial Services. He has advised several international and domestic banks, non-bank banks, mezzanine funds, and other financial institutions and institutional investors, as well as corporate borrowers, in a wide range of local and cross-border secured and unsecured financings.
Javier’s expertise includes structured finance, asset-backed finance, real estate finance, commercial financings, project finance, acquisition finance, corporate finance, asset securitization as well as capital markets.
Javier obtained his law degree (JD) from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City in 2016.
He obtained his LL.M. Degree with honors in 2023 from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.
Javier worked as a Foreign Associate in the Miami office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP in 2023 and 2024. As a Foreign Associate at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP, Javier advised the Federal Insurance Deposit Corporation (FDIC) in the sale of more than US$33 billion commercial real estate loan portfolio and $9 billion outstanding capital loans held by Signature Bank (one of the principal banks that failed in spring of 2023, setting off a financial crisis in the United Sates). He also advised multiple syndicates of lenders that provided financing to one of the largest airlines in the U.S. and to some of the most important Brazilian entities.
