ALEJANDRO SANTOYO IS PARTNER IN THE MEXICO CITY OFFICE. HIS PRACTICE FOCUSES ON TAX.

Among others, Mr. Santoyo regularly advises large multinationals banks and global private equity investors and sponsors on acquisitions and investments in Mexico across multiple industries.  Most notably, Mr. Santoyo advised Apollo Global Management as lender of a DIP (debtor-in-possession) facility into Grupo Aeromexico S.A.B. de C.V., (“AMX”) in connection to AMX´s chapter 11 procedures in the US. He also advised PROMECAP on its global initial public offering (IPO) of a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) in Mexico, which raised US$300 million from Mexican and international investors.

Also advising RLH Properties in the direct acquisition of all the shares and interests that OHL hold in the companies that own the Rosewood Mayakoba Hotel, the Banyan Tree Mayakoba Hotel, the Fairmont Mayakoba Hotel, the Andaz Mayakoba Hotel and the Golf Course “El Camaleón” Mayakoba.

Mr. Santoyo is ranked or cited as Band 1, Tier 1 or equivalent in Tax by many publications, including: Chambers and Partners Global, Chambers and Partners Latin America, The Legal 500, Latin Lawyer 250 and WorldTax de International Tax Review.

Mr. Santoyo is a member of the International Bar Association and has been an active member of the Mexican Colleague of Public Accountants, the Mexican Bar Association, and the Mexican Broker Dealers Association (AMIB), where he has served as member of their Tax Committees. He is a frequent speaker on tax matters related to mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Mr. Santoyo has written multiple articles and papers on various legal subjects.

Mr. Santoyo was invited as partner of Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C. in 2014 and previously worked as tax partner of Chevez, Ruiz, Zamarripa y Cía., S.C. for more than 10 years. During the years of 1997 and 2002 he worked for J.P. Morgan as tax vice president with responsibilities in Mexico and other offices in Latin America.

Mr. Santoyo was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He received his law degree (JD) from Universidad del Valle de Mexico, his certified public accountant degree (BS) from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico and obtained his MBA degree from The University of Texas at Austin.  He is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
