J essica Villaverde Galvez

Jessica Villaverde is counsel at Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C., in Mexico City, where she specializes in environmental law.

Her areas of expertise include environmental impact, water, hazardous wastes, and contaminated sites. Since 2003, Jessica has closely worked as Mexican counsel on legal environmental matters arising from numerous domestic and international transactions representing a wide range of sectors and has collaborated in several administrative proceedings and litigations related to the environmental laws.

Jessica obtained her law degree (JD), with honors in 2003 from the Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO) and later obtained her LL.M. degree from Columbia University School of Law in 2008 where she was an LL.M. Pro Bono Fellow.

Jessica was granted the Fulbright Scholarship and also the Magdalena O. Vda. de Brockmann scholarship to study her master´s degree in the United States in 2007. That same year, she received a merit-based partial tuition waiver from Columbia University to study her LL.M.

Jessica worked as a foreign associate in the Washington D.C. office of Crowell & Moring.

Jessica is co-author of “A Q&A guide to Environment Law in Mexico” 2012/14, 2012/13 and 2019/2021 published by Practical Law Company. Jessica was noted by Chambers and Partners 2015 for her work in the Environmental practice area and ranked as raising star by Legal 500 – 2021.
