Valentina Villa is Counsel in the Mexico City office. Her practice focuses on Real Estate, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Banking and Finance.
Valentina has actively worked as Mexican counsel in numerous transactions, representing domestic and international clients and has solid experience in Latin America.
Prior to joining the Firm, Valentina worked for well-known transnational companies such as PREI Latin America where she worked as VP and Chief Legal Officer for Latin America overseeing fund formation matters, capital markets, M&A, core real estate matters, and the company’s lending needs for Mexico and Latin America (mainly Brazil and Chile). She also worked for Coca-Cola FEMSA, S.A.B. de C.V., mainly overseeing the M&A, lending needs and securities transactions of said public company; regarding Mexico as well as other territories such as Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Panama.
Among others, Valentina has strong experience in complex Real Estate transactions, included legal structure design, intense team work and interaction with business, finance and tax areas. On her representation of multiple public funds, Valentina has earned valuable knowledge on successfully negotiating FCPA, ERISA, OFAC, among other relevant regulatory matters for international clients within the jurisdictions where the client has business.
Valentina worked as Foreign Associate in the New York office of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in 2003 and 2004.
Valentina was born in Mexico City, Mexico. She received her law degree (JD) from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) with a merit scholarship and graduated with honors for her thesis presentation. Valentina obtained her LL.M degree from Northwestern University Law School in 2003, where she also studied business courses from Kellogg Business School such as Finance, M&A and Accounting for Decision Making. She is fluent in Spanish, English and speaks rudimentary Portuguese.
