We are delighted to share that Jorge Kargl Pavia from our Competition group, Alejandro Isaac Beas from our Financial Services group, Julio Rodrigo Álvarez Ortega from our Labor and Employment group, Diego Barrera Pieck from our M&A group, and Eduardo Brandt López from our Tax group, have been named partners of the Firm effective January 1, 2022.

Jorge Kargl Pavia specializes in antitrust and telecommunications, media and technology (TMT). He obtained his law degree with honors from Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey (2006), a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with honors from Universidad Anáhuac (2013), and a second Master’s degree, but now in Information and Communication Technologies Law from INFOTEC (2017). Mr. Kargl represents clients from all industries, particularly TMT industries, in merger notifications, investigations and immunity requests before the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) and the Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE), provides specialized regulatory and normative advice to clients in this same sector and also represent clients in administrative litigation before the specialized courts in economic competition, broadcasting and telecommunications.

Alejandro Isaac Beas specializes in banking, finance and real estate law. He obtained his law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana (2008) and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Columbia University (2013). Prior to joining Creel, he gained experience in the Banking and Finance area working in law firms and financial institutions.

Julio Rodrigo Álvarez Ortega specializes in labor law. He obtained his law degree from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey Campus Mexico City (2011), a specialization in Labor and Social Security Law from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (2012) and a master’s degree in Labor Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2016). Mr. Álvarez has extensive experience representing diverse clients in all legal aspects of their labor relations in Mexico, having an outstanding knowledge of the labor aspects arising out of mergers and acquisitions transactions.

Diego Barrera Pieck specializes in antitrust and mergers and acquisitions. He obtained his law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana (2008), a specialization in Commercial Law from Universidad Panamericana (2009), a Masters in Energy and Economic Policy Administration (MPA) from Columbia University (2012) and a second Masters but now in Law (LL.M.) from Fordham University (2013). Mr. Barrera has participated in mergers and acquisitions related to the infrastructure, energy, consumer goods and healthcare industries, as well as in complex joint venture structures between domestic and foreign companies.

Eduardo Brandt López specializes in tax law. He obtained his law degree with honors from Universidad Iberoamericana (2009), a specialization in Tax Law also with honors from Universidad Panamericana (2010) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Taxation from New York University (2012). Mr. Brandt has focused his practice on providing tax advice to Mexican companies with operations abroad, as well as on tax issues arising from international mergers and acquisitions.

These organic appointments will contribute to strengthen our multidisciplinary model and reaffirm our commitment to continue to provide the most specialized legal advice with the highest standards of excellence, just as we have done during our 85 years of history.
