Andrés is an Associate at Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez since 2015, in the Mexico City Office, where he specializes in Corporations, Financial Institutions, Fintech, and Corporate Governance.
Andrés has over 10 years of experience in the private sector, focusing on corporate law, financial regulatory and corporate governance practices, as well as on legal audits and several authorization and licensing processes before the Mexican financial authorities, such as the National Banking and Securities Commission, the National Insurance and Bonding Commission, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, and the Central Bank.
Andrés has worked in some of the most innovative corporate transactions and regulatory processes in Mexico, giving advice to high-profile national and international corporate and financial groups. These include the authorization processes for the licensing of Financial Institutions (including SOFIPOs and Insurance Institutions); the acquisition, change of control and corporate reorganization of Financial Institutions (including Financial Groups, Credit Institutions, Brokerage Houses, Investment Advisors, Insurance Institutions, and SOFIPOs) by both Mexican and foreign financial institutions; the establishment of Foreign Financial Institutions’ representation offices in Mexico (including Credit Institutions and Reinsurance Institutions); the de-licensing and portfolio transfer of Financial Institutions (including Insurance Institutions); and the extension of Insurance Institutions’ business lines.
Likewise, Andrés has been part and provided legal advice for important domestic transactions, such as the formation and corporate reorganization of Mexican subsidiaries and business of foreign commercial companies; the regulatory compliance of products offered by Financial Institutions (including Credit Institutions and Insurance Institutions); and the legal audit for the acquisition of commercial companies and supervised entities (including Clearinghouses and Insurance Institutions).
Andrés is also part of the Firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and he leads initiatives to create an openly inclusive environment for the LGBTQ+ community.
In 2019, Andrés graduated from the Law School of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City, where he obtained his Law Degree (JD). His mother tongue is Spanish, he has bilingual proficiency in the English language, and he is conversational in the French language.
