Creel, García-Cúellar, Aiza y Enríquez was awarded multiple accolades, including the Americas Banking Tax Deal of the Year Award and the Americas Consumer Products Tax Deal of the Year Award , at the International Tax Review´s 12th annual Americas Tax Awards ceremony which took place in New York City yesterday evening.
The International Tax Review recognized the most innovative tax and transfer pricing advice of the 2016-2017 period from firms in the North and South American region.
Creel was awarded the Americas Banking Tax Deal of the Year distinction for representing FIBRA Macquarie on its refinancing program. We acted as tax counsel to FIBRA Macquarie on its refinancing program for a total amount of USD$ 685 million, used to prepay FIBRA Macquarie’s asset-level secured loans. Additionally; FIBRA Macquarie placed debt in the international markets for USD$250 million.
Creel was also awarded the Americas Consumer Products Tax Deal of the Year distinction for Project Eagle: Coca-Cola Femsa’s indirect acquisition of Brazilian bottling group Vonpar. We acted as tax counsel to the shareholders of Vonpar in the indirect acquisition by Coca-Cola Femsa of Brazilian bottling group Vonpar and the subsequent incorporation of a Mexican company by sellers and merger with Coca-Cola Femsa. Including tax implications derived from the transfer of its Vonpar’ shares to Coca-Cola FEMSA and its further investment in the equity of Coca Cola FEMSA.
